Tiger Attacks Cause Cleptomania

Who’d have thought getting mauled and surviving a tiger attack on Christmas would cause someone to try and steal video game accessories!
Well, not really. But for some reason this article from the San Francisco Chronicle kept mentioning that the suspect survived a tiger attack, Christmas last year, at the SF Zoo.
What’s the connection? Other than the day of the attempted theft, the suspect (along with his brother who also survived the tigers) filed suit against the city for damages due to the Zoo incident, nothing.
But it makes for a more sensational headline, doesn’t it?
This is the kind of news I would totally have missed had it not been for the tiger part. Personally, I think this would have made a much better story if there was some kind of connection to the tiger attack last year.
You know, “Scientists discover that getting mauled by giant felines causes otherwise normal people to become master theives!” Something awesome like that.
Alas, it’s not the case. And an otherwise mundane case of caught in the act becomes a headline because a couple would be thieves get the smack down from a tiger a few months prior.
