Soldier KIA, Wife Gets Sperm

This is both sad and shocking at the same time.

I ran across this article on Yahoo! News which said an Army Sergent killed in Baghdad on March 31st had his remains sampled for sperm several days after his death at the request of his wife.

The widow, Kynesha, went in front of a federal judge in Georgia to request a restraining order which would prevent the military from embalming her husband’s body. It was granted.

The samples were taken, but several doctor’s believe they will prove to be unsuccessful in an artificial insemination.

Sgt. Dayne Darren Dhanoolal was 26 when he died, and according to Kynesha, wanted kids.

I’ve never heard of anything like this before. When I started to read the article, I was already very skeptical about the sperm likely being able to impregnate her, before I read professional opinions on its possible success. But who really knows until she tries, I guess.

It’s a shame all around. Young kid loses his life due to an explosive overseas, and a young wife loses her husband and likely the chance of having his child she really seems to want.
