I Am A Vampire

April 29, 2008

It’s been a while since I’ve written anything here, hasn’t it? However, I have a good reason! A week ago, I was embraced by a vampire and sent to Los Angeles to fulfill a number of tasks. My sire, unfortunately, was exterminated and I was left to often fend for myself as a fledgling. It has been a hectic week to say the least; but I apologize for the absence nonetheless. It’s not easy being a bloodsucker… [Read more]

Choose Your Own Adventure

April 21, 2008

You come to the end of the hallway. A hideous skeleton suddenly appears and looks at you … fury burning through his eye sockets. He raises his bony arm; a giant sword piercing the air above him as he readies for combat. If you want to draw your blunt force trauma weapon, turn to page 3. If you’d like to turn around and book back down the hallway like a coward, turn to page 4. If you’d like to stick around and ask the skeleton how he keeps his physique so fit and trim, turn to page 5. [Read more]

LucasArts Let Downs

April 15, 2008

Gladius - Xbox - LucasArtsIt’s a shame that a company I can say has produced some of my favorite game titles of all time has also been a major source of let downs for me now and again.

I wrote about wanting to see a new Monkey Island previously. It’s been forever since LucasArts said another sequel would follow, and it just doesn’t look like it’ll ever happen. This isn’t the only time they’ve hinted sequel and not followed through, however. [Read more]

Three Games I’d Like To See Become Movies

April 4, 2008

Silent Hill MovieA comment got me thinking about the possibility of more games crossing over into the movie realm, to help counter game critic’s arguments against the value of today’s favorite past time. It’s sometimes common for a movie to launch a game after its success in theaters, but the reverse hasn’t happened as often as I’d like.

Can you think of a game you’d like to see turned into a Hollywood blockbuster? [Read more]

Gaming Noob, Whittell, Angriest Guy Ever!

April 3, 2008

He loves mountains, the air, tents, and rain on his face. And that’s why his children won’t see a Nintendo or Playstation in their house… Ever.

Angry, Smashed Computer, Gaming when it comes to video games. He hates them with a passion, online or offline, because they “suck real people into fake worlds and hold on to them for decades.” [Read more]

A Game To End All Games

April 2, 2008

The Sims - Electronic ArtsSimulation games have always appealed to me, but I dream of seeing them go so much further in the ultimate gaming mash up someday.

Imagine a platform similar to Second Life, or The Sims. The foundation of it is controlling your avatar/character, inhabiting your own little world, or if connected online, a chain of worlds where you could interact with many other players. [Read more]

Ahoy, LucasArts! Monkey Island Time, Now?

April 1, 2008

Monkey Island, LucasArtsDear LucasArts, I have a lot of great memories from when I was an up and coming gamer kid, and I have you to thank for many of them. The Secret of Monkey Island, Monkey Island 2: LeChuck’s Revenge, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis, Maniac Mansion, Loom and The Dig, specifically. First Person Campers

March 31, 2008

camping1.jpgIf you’ve ever stepped inside a first person shooter game in multiplayer, you’re surely familiar with the term camper. Every time I see someone type the astute, “omg wtf.. y u campn,” or the more expressive, “fU campre fagget!11,” I have to laugh at both the rage that it spawns and the fact that these players seem really obsessive about something that relates to pitching tents. The Sims 3

March 26, 2008

sims3.jpgWell, it’s time to find a countdown to 2009 widget, because sometime next year the next installment of Electronic Arts’ Sims is going to be released, and it’s looking like it could be one of the most anticipated games we may see next year. I can’t wait. [Read more]

Jaws Unleashed

March 17, 2008

jawsunleashed.jpgI’ve got to say straight away that I’m a little disappointed. Not with this game, but with most of the reviews I came across for this title.

I guess to each their own. But I’m glad I gave it a shot even after reading some of the comments out there.

I’m playing the PC version, so I can’t really say how similar or different the console versions may be. But other than how you go about controlling this, it’s probably much the same experience all in all. [Read more]
