This Site

Room 237: Origins, to sum it up, is a place where I write about the things that interest me. If I had to classify it into one specific genre, I’d say observational commentary. I see something of interest, and I write about it. In a lot of cases it’s funny observations on news stories, people, gaming and movies. But now and again I’ll toss in something that I don’t think is necessarily funny and just caught my attention.

If you’re curious about the name of the website, it’s a play on Silent Hill and The Shining.

237 being the infamous room (in the movie only, but the more popular number) in the Overlook Hotel from The Shining. And Room and Origins relating to Silent Hill titles. Silent Hill: The Room, Silent Hill: Origins. Mash it all together and you get Room 237: Origins.

Why combine those two things? I loved playing the Silent Hill games, and am also a fan of The Shining. They seemed like two really cool elements to put together, considering I enjoy writing about both movies and games.

All in all, much like in Silent Hill: The Room and akin to Jack Torrence’s nook in the Overlook Hotel, this is my room and my writer’s spot. This is where I come to put down in keystrokes all the letters, words, sentences and paragraphs that need to be said.
